Encouragement for Prelude Players
Dear Congregation, I wanted to send a note out to thank Isaac Ward for serving us in the prelude yesterday with a tastefully presented song of pure Scripture as we prepared our hearts for worship, and to encourage more of you to volunteer to help us prepare on Sunday mornings. As done yesterday, you could play/sing Scripture passages in a way that keeps the emphasis on the Scripture; or, you could read Scripture passages; or, you could play well-known hymns. Or perhaps something else, even. The point is to help others prepare their hearts. Those wishing to volunteer should make arrangements with Jean Vander Plaats who, under Gary's authority, so graciously has been arranging our preludes for several months, with the knowledge of the Steering Committee. If you wish to do something from the "perhaps something else" category, please first run it by Pastor James, so that we can make sure that everything is done "properly and in an orderly manner" (1Cor 14:40). Also, please note that a prelude, and a part of the actual worship service are two very different things. Anyone wishing to do anything in the worship service itself (beyond the accompaniment which we already have and for which we are grateful) should talk to Pastor James, and any unusual decisions will be made by the full steering committee (soon, hopefully, the full session!). Working with you for your joy and His glory, Pastor JamesLabels: Announcements
